Alecia R. Harris, Founder, President & CEO of Walking With Faith, Inc., went to college, had a house and family, worked at one of the nation’s top ten hospitals and as a university instructor, and was living the American dream when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

In a matter of months her life had changed. She had a decision to make: live with the facts or with her faith. She chose her Faith.

Knowing that everything was in divine order, Alecia began volunteering for the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition to working on the planning committee for the annual “MS Walks,” she began asking others to join the team she was forming called “Walking With Faith.” The team and fellowship grew.

Today, Walking With Faith, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization, with more than 100 volunteers, who hold several benefit and educational events to raise funds and awareness to find a cure for the devastating effects of this chronic, debilitating disease.

Executive Summary:

A 501(c)(3) organization, Walking With Faith, Inc. provides the following:

  • Educational Seminars
  • Fundraising Events
  • Information
  • Support

Walking With Faith, Inc. started as a team of more than 100 walkers who participated in the annual MS Walk in support of their family and friends who suffer from the debilitating effects of this disease. Collectively, this team of walkers began raising funds through their fundraising events. These annual events include:

  • Benefit Dinner
  • Women’s Benefit Luncheon
  • MS Benefit Concert

The most exciting initiative began when “Kids FUN-RAISE for Multiple Sclerosis, Inc.,” was organized by kids to raise funds for MS. These kids, who have a parent or loved one who suffers from this disease, wanted to reach outside of themselves to help someone else. Their fundraising events include:

  • Kids Bowl for MS
  • Kids Roller Skate for MS
  • Kids Jump Rope for MS

Since 2002 Walking With Faith, Inc. has raised funds specifically towards research, by donating all proceeds to the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
